James McKamey, President of McKamey Landscapes, LLC, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Design from the University of Tennesee in 1975. He managed a retail greenhouse and nursery business after college for 6 years.

He established McKamey Landscapes in 1981. His beginning services were designing landscapes, installing trees, shrub and hardscapes (retaining walls, fences, patios) and maintaining lawns and properties. In 1982 he began installations of irrigation systems.

In the spring of 1992 Mr. McKamey began looking for a safer alternative to chemicals after he became ill while working on a customer's lawn that had just been treated with fungicide by a chemical lawn care company. In the fall of 1992 he met Bob Riley of Green Pro Solutions from Long Island, N.Y.

McKamey Landscapes changed their clients over to the organics in the spring of 1993.

McKamey Landscapes works in all of Hamilton County, Dalton, Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain and Bradley County, along with parts of Catoosa and Dade county in Georgia.

McKamey's employees attend training seminars every year provided by the University of Tennessee, Tennessee Nursery Association, Chattanooga Association of Landscape Professionals and the Department of Agriculture. These days of classes provide important training to keep the employees knowledge of horticulture up to date.

McKamey Landscapes is Chartered by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture to do lawn and shrub applications. McKamey Landscapes has a Plant Dealer Certificate from the Dept. of Agriculture and City and County Business licenses. They are Bonded and Insured. All employees are covered by workmens' compensation.
